'Shiatsu is like the mother hugging her baby'

Shizuto Masunaga, Founder of Zen Shiatsu

Shiatsu (a type of acupressure massage linked with TCM) is a gentle, restorative, clothed massage tradition from Japan. Palm and thumb pressure along the meridian lines restore balance and wellbeing between body, mind and emotions.

Shiatsu is good for all minor ailments, helps release stuck energy, aids the parasympathetic nervous system, benefits the hormonal cycle in women, stimulates lymph flow, is good for digestion and helps the circulation and release of muscular tension.

Its also great for bringing positive change in emotional states, breaking through anxiety and depression and increasing stability and awareness.

'It begins with pressure with the fingers but it is difficult to say why pressing the point cures disease. In both Zen and Shiatsu we are dealing with something that cannot be explained rationally but that should be felt by the living body.' Shizuto Masunaga
