The acupoints of tCM have so much value. They can be very helpful to hold to support an area of the energetic system, when simply made contact with by yourself (i.e. just gently pressed or massaged)
As this is winter time, the season of the Water element in Five Element Theory (the channels of Water are Kidney and Bladder); a powerful point to press for health and wellbeing is Kidney Three: 'Taixi' or 'Great Stream'. It is found on the big toe side of the ankle = next to and in the middle of the ankle bone (not on top of it!) This is a powerful point for aiding the energy of the Kidneys.
According to my points book, KD 3: 'Nourishes Kidney Yin; tonifies Kidney Yang. Strengthens the lower back and knees and benefits the uterus.' So it has a lot to offer!
Winter is the season in which energies retreat and hibernate awaiting renewal in Spring. It is a good time to contemplate and to nourish the system with healthy food and taking time to relax the nervous system - which is expressed in tCM through the Bladder channel which flows alongside the spine (with points which connect into organ functions and which are often used in acupuncture).
Testimonials
Whenever I see Emily, I feel I’m in very good hands. Her warm and friendly welcome as well as a nicely prepared treatment area immediately make me feel comfortable. Her great knowledge of and commitment to the world of Shiatsu, combined with an eagerness to find additional and complementary methods, as well as allowing herself to be guided by intuition, provide great flexibility and ensure that each treatment is perfect for my body and its issues on the day of the appointment." (Karin Elliot: Retired Reiki Practitioner)
''I have had many gentle Shiatsu sessions with Emily and find them restorative and comforting. I had my first foot massage, as opposed to reflexology, with Emily and the experience was beneficial both physically and emotionally. It was also interesting to observe the various techniques used, each with differing results, all good." (Diana Silk, former Yoga Teacher)
'Emily is warm, gentle and attentive and I feel very relaxed and rejuvenated during and after her shiatsu massage. Emily finds the locations which benefit from the acupressure. She has a gift of intuition combined with an excellent and rigorous knowledge of the meridian points and channels.' (Kate King, potter and retired art teacher)
